Escondido Reprographics Inc. Proves that
"If You Build it, They Will Come"
Small Shop Achieves Success with Online PlanRoom
Neville Knowles, Manager of Escondido Reprographics Inc., recognized the importance
of online print submission and ordering for his small reprographics shop, so he began
to explore the various options on the market. There were several factors that were
of utmost importance: (1) Since his shop runs Xerox printers, his online ordering
and printing system needed to support Plotworks; (2) Escondido Reprographics Inc.
is an independent reprographics shop, so it was important to have a solution that
was not tied to any particular organization; (3) The solution needed to be cost
effective and needed to have a growth path, once its potential was proven.
Knowles did his homework and compared features and prices of the major PlanRoom
software available today. He compared the "customer service" aspect of each company
as well, because he wanted to know that there was someone available if he had a problem.
IDEAL Online PlanRoom met all of his criteria.
Inititallly, IDEAL delivered a Basic IntraNETIX Document Management System which
enabled secure login, view and print order capability for customers. Escondido
Reprographics Inc. billed the orders by hand. Very quickly, both Escondido
Reprographics Inc. and their customers realized the convenience & efficiency that
e-commerce capability would bring to their PlanRoom, so Escondido upgraded to IDEAL
Basic PlanRoom with credit card capability and project management features.
At this point, Escondido Reprographics Inc. began to attract new customers who wanted
to use the PlanRoom to facilitate document sharing with their associates. With this
increased document sharing came increased print orders for Escondido Reprographics Inc..
Even Architects, with in-house printing capabilities preferred using the IDEAL Online
PlanRoom for document viewing, and their General Contractors began to come to Escondido
Reprographics Inc. for prints of their project drawings.
As more GCs used the plan room, they began to ask for additional features to make it
easier for them to manage the bid process. So, two short months after the installation
of the Basic IntraNETIX Document Management System, Escondido upgraded to the
full-featured PlanRoom for Reprographers, which encludes all the print and order
capabilities designed for efficient reprographic production, intutive project setup
and easy folder-based project organization, as well as all of the customer-pleasing
features that make it easy for the GCs to manage their bid process. These features
include: (1) "Bid Blaster" which enables GCs to send project invitaions and notifications
via email and fax; (2) Distribution Matrix which allows GCs to order for their subs;
(3) contact manager and listing of subcontractors by CSI codes; (4) bid progress indicator;
(4) addenda notification; and more.
Neville Knowles says " The automatic addendum notification is really cool. We don't have
to do anything but upload the addendum. The IDEAL Online PlanRoom takes care of the rest."
Knowles futher states, "The IDEAL Online PlanRoom is easy to use. Both our staff and our

Escondido Reprographics Inc. expects to see ROI in less than a year from initial install,
and has already seen an expansion of their geographic coverage, an increase in customers
and print orders as well as better customer retention.
