This document will guide you through installing your IDEAL/Contex scanner. Please follow these instructions STEP by STEP before calling support.

1. Make sure your PC comply with the minimum requirements.

2. Install the SCSI/USB or Firewire interface to your computer. DO NOT CONNECT the SCANNER YET

3. Install the WideSystem interface. WideSystem acts as the driver for the scanner. You can download it for FREE from ftp.ideal.com/WideSystem. If you need help installing WideSystem please see our WideSystem Tutorial

4. It is important that you choose YES for “Run WideSystem at startup since WideSystem needs to be loaded BEFORE the scanner is connected to the PC.

5. You have to restart the PC before connecting your Firewire or USB scanner for the first time.

6. Once the PC is up and running make sure the little scanner icon is present in the task bar, and then connect your USB/Firewire scanner

1. If you have a SCSI scanner please connect it while the PC and the scanner are off.



2. Once the scanner is connected the “New Hardware Wizard” will prompt you for action, click Next, and click on the “Continue Anyway” option for the Windows Signature box.



3. Your scanner should be configured now. Don’t forget to install the Scanner Maintenance program and calibrate the scanner.
