Operations with raster and vector data

Group/Ungroup

Menu: Modify > Group/Ungroup

Toolbar: Modify

Description: A group is made up of multiple WiseImage objects united in order to apply various commands to them. You can apply commands to several selected objects without grouping them, but in this case the next selection will replace the previous. Forming a group allows you to save the selection for use at later time and also allows you to select other objects without changing the group contents.
You can set a group with the Group command, which is applied to selected objects, and you can ungroup with Ungroup.

Polyline

Menu: Modify > Polyline

Toolbar: Select, Edit Polyline

Description: The mechanism of editing polylines is represented by buttons in the Edit Polyline toolbar.
You can edit polylines by closing and breaking them and also by moving, adding, or deleting individual vertices. You can convert line segments to arcs and vice versa, modify polyline properties such as width and line type, its belonging to a certain layer, color and elevation.
You can edit a polyline, moving its vertices with the mouse, and also using the Polyline Edit toolbar or the cursor menu.
You need to select a line before editing it. In WiseImage there are two modes of modifying a polyline: Vector editing mode and Segment editing mode.

Move

Menu: Modify > Move

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Move selection with the mouse. You can also move selected objects by steps in vertical or horizontal directions pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard. The step size and grid usage are specified in the Grid setup dialog.

Copy

Menu: Modify > Copy

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Creates a copy of selected objects. You can specify the number of copies in the Inspector window.

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Duplicate

Menu: Modify > Duplicate

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Duplicates selected object(s).

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Rotate

Menu: Modify > Rotate

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Rotates selected object(s). You can specify the number of copies and rotation options the Inspector window.

Figure above shows the result of rotating.

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Scale

Menu: Modify > Scale

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Creates a specified number of scaled copies of selected object(s). You can specify the scaling options the Inspector window.

You can specify the rotation angle of the mirror axis the Inspector window and also choose to keep or erase initial object(s).

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Mirror

Menu: Modify > Mirror

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Creates a mirrored copy of selected object(s). You can specify the rotation angle of the mirror axis the Inspector window and also choose to keep or erase initial object(s).

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Flip Horizontal/Vertical

Menu: Modify > Flip Horizontal/Vertical

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Creates a mirrored copy of selected object(s) by horizontal or vertical axis of the selection without keeping initial object(s).

See also: Quick Start "Editing WiseImage objects"

Align

Menu: Modify > Align

Toolbar: Modify

Description: You can align selected WiseImage objects to other objects.

This figure presents two fragments of different scales, which can be joined using Align. The result of the operation is shown on the next figure

Offset Object

Menu: Modify > Offset Object

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Offsetting creates a new WiseImage vector object similar to that which is specified. The lines are duplicated. Polylines, polygons, arcs, rectangles and circles are supplied with enlarged or reduced copies.

The figures above show two offsetted polylines, proposed by the program (note the position of cross-shaped mouse pointer).

Array

Menu: Modify > Array

Toolbar: Modify

Description: This command is used to create two-dimensional array of selected objects with a specified number of rows and columns. You can specify the command's options in the Inspector window.

Figure above shows the array of objects.

Duplicate by vector

Menu: Modify > Duplicate by vector

Toolbar: Modify

Description: You use this command to copy selected WiseImage objects along such vector objects as lines, arcs, and circles.
A vector object, along which WiseImage objects are duplicated, is proportionally divided in accordance with the specified number of copies for the duplicated object.
If you copy an object by arc or circle, the copies are rotated

This figure shows the result of applying Duplicate by vector to object 1 by vector line 2

Merge (Rasterize)

Menu: Modify > Merge (Rasterize)

Toolbar: Modify

Description: The merging operation adds selected objects (selection) to destination raster images. A selection can be composed of:
- Raster images;
- Raster selection;
- Vector objects to be rasterized with the Merge command.
During the Merge operation only the part of the selection placed within the boundary of the destination images is transferred. The part of the selection placed outside the boundary of the destination images is ignored. All the objects included in the selection disappear after Merge is completed.

You can merge data from the source images or raster selection with less color depth onto destination images with greater color depth, but not the other way around: monochrome onto grayscale and color, grayscale onto color (not on monochrome) color onto color only.
If you merge color vector images on a monochrome raster image, their rasterized representations get the foreground color. If you merge color vector images on a color raster image, their rasterized representations keep the color of the original vector objects.

Merge a Copy(Rasterize)

Menu: Modify > Merge a Copy(Rasterize)

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Merging a Copy works in a similar way to merging (see above) except it does not erase the original selection from the document

Explode

Menu: Modify > Explode

Toolbar: Modify

Description: Exploding converts composite objects back to their constituent parts. For example, exploding such objects as polyline or rectangle reverts them to simple lines and arcs. One iteration of the Explode command explodes composite objects by one level only. If you want to completely explode a block that contains a polyline, you need to explode the polyline separately.
